HDFC Millennia Credit Card Review
Is HDFC Millennia Credit Card Worth It?
Yes, but only if you spend on these 10 apps.
Amazon. Flipkart. Myntra. Swiggy. Zomato. Uber. BookMyShow. Cultfit. Sony LIV. Tata CLiQ.
If those 10 names cover 60% or more of your monthly spending, this card will quietly save you ₹4,000 to ₹8,000 per year. Fee waived. No effort. Cashback direct to your statement.
If those 10 names cover less than 40% of your spending, close this tab. Read my SBI Cashback Credit Card review instead. That card gives 5% across ALL online platforms, not just 10. For a mixed spender, SBI Cashback wins every single time.
Still here? Good. You are probably the right person for this card. Let me show you exactly what you will earn and the three catches HDFC does not advertise loudly.
The Three Catches: HDFC Millennia Credit Card Users Should Know
1st- ₹1,000 Monthly Cashback Cap Explained
5% cashback is capped at 1,000 CashPoints per month. The maximum you can earn 5% from spending ₹ 20,000 monthly. Spend ₹30,000 on Amazon and Swiggy combined, the extra ₹10,000 earns 1%, not 5%.
For most people, this cap does not matter. For heavy spenders, it does.
2nd- ₹50 Redemption Fee Since 2024
Every time you redeem CashPoints for a statement credit, HDFC charges ₹50. On a small redemption, this eats into returns meaningfully. Workaround: accumulate 2,000-3,000 points before redeeming.
3rd- Wallet Loads and EMI No Longer Earn Rewards
Planning to load the Amazon Pay wallet with this card to trigger 5%? That stopped working in September 2024. EMI transactions also earn zero CashPoints now.
These three catches do not kill the card. But you need to know them before you apply, not after.

What Happened When My Sister Used This Card
I recommended this HDFC Millennia Credit Card to my sister three months ago. First salary ₹32,000, IT company in Pune. She asked me which card to get. Three questions from my side.
Where do you shop online? Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Swiggy. Zomato and Uber? Yes, regularly. Monthly spend roughly? ₹10,000 to ₹12,000.
HDFC Millennia Credit Card. Without hesitation.
Welcome Bonus and CashPoints Value
My Sister’s First Month
Total Spend: ₹9,780
| Platform | Spend | Rate | CashPoints |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🛒 Amazon | ₹6,800 | 5% | ₹340 |
| 🍔 Swiggy | ₹1,400 | 5% | ₹70 |
| 👗 Myntra | ₹1,200 | 5% | ₹60 |
| 🚗 Uber | ₹380 | 5% | ₹19 |
| Total | ₹9,780 | — | ₹489 |
⚠️ ₹50 redemption fee applies — net saving this month: ₹439
She called after seeing her statement. “Bhai ye toh actually kaam karta hai.”
Yes. For her spending pattern exactly as advertised. I also told her one rule: always pay directly through each app. Never via PhonePe or Google Pay on Swiggy. Never load the Amazon Pay wallet and pay from the wallet. Card directly on app checkout. That one rule keeps the 5% trigger working every time. This detail is responsible for 80% of the “my cashback did not post” complaints you see on Reddit.

⚠️ After ₹1,280 annual fee + redemption fees — net saving: ₹1,991 per year
Annual fee paid: ₹1,180 (with GST) Redemption fees: ₹100 (two redemptions) Net saving in 6 months: ₹1,991
Annualised: roughly ₹3,980 net per year at this spend level.
Not spectacular on paper. But two things to notice — the effective rate across ALL spend, including non-partner categories, was 3.9%. And at ₹84,000 total in 6 months, year 2 will almost certainly be fee-free. Net return climbs significantly once the annual fee disappears.

How the 5% Cashback Actually Works?
Annual fee: ₹1,180 effective (with GST). Waiver threshold: ₹8,333 per month.
Three honest scenarios:
₹10,000+ monthly spend: Fee waived. Net return: ₹5,040- ₹ 8,050 per year. The card is excellent.
₹7,000-9,000 monthly spend: 50-50 on waiver. Net return after fee ₹1,500-3,000. Still positive.
Under ₹6,000 monthly spend: Will not qualify for the waiver. Pay ₹1,180. Earn ₹2,500-3,000. Net ₹1,200-1,800. At this spend level, Amazon Pay ICICI, with a zero annual fee, is more efficient if Amazon is your primary platform.
Partner Platform Spending Breakdown
Spend ₹1,00,000 in a calendar quarter. Choose:
Option A: ₹1,000 voucher, Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Zomato
Option B: 1 free domestic airport lounge visit
₹33,333 per month high bar. Most regular users will not reach this naturally.
But corporate employees who put travel reimbursements on a personal card often hit this. At ₹1,00,000 quarterly:
Regular 5% cashback: ~₹5,000 Milestone voucher: ₹1,000 Total per quarter: ~₹6,000 = ₹24,000 annually
On a card that costs ₹1,000 and gets waived at this spend level. That is genuinely exceptional.
Important lounge access here is NOT a standard benefit. One visit per qualifying quarter. Most users see zero lounge visits per year. If lounge access matters to you, read my Best Airport Lounge Access Credit Cards in India. There are cards designed specifically for this.
HDFC Millennia Credit Card vs Amazon Pay ICICI
HDFC Millennia vs Amazon Pay ICICI
March 2026
| Factor | HDFC Millennia | Amazon Pay ICICI |
|---|---|---|
| Annual Fee | ₹1,000 (waivable) | Zero forever |
| 5% Coverage | 10 platforms | Amazon only |
| Swiggy | 5% direct | 2% via Amazon Pay |
| Flipkart / Myntra | 5% | 1% |
| Monthly Cap | ₹1,000 | No cap |
| Forex | 3.5% | 1.99% |
As an Amazon-first spender spending ₹15,060+ monthly on Amazon, the Amazon Pay ICICI credit card is a better choice. Unlimited 5% beats capped 5%. Zero fee makes it cleaner.
Multi-platform spender across Flipkart, Myntra, Swiggy, Zomato — Millennia wins clearly. Amazon Pay ICICI gives 1% on Flipkart and Myntra. Millennia gives 5%.

HDFC Millennia Credit Card vs SBI Cashback Card
HDFC Millennia vs SBI Cashback
March 2026
| Factor | HDFC Millennia | SBI Cashback |
|---|---|---|
| Annual Fee | ₹1,000 (waivable) | ₹999 (waivable) |
| Online Cashback | 5% on 10 platforms | 5% on ALL online |
| Monthly Cap | ₹1,000 | ₹5,000 |
| Zomato / Uber | 5% ✅ | Not covered at 5% |
One question decides this: Do you spend heavily on Zomato, Uber, BookMyShow, Cult.fit?
Yes → HDFC Millennia Credit Card. SBI Cashback does not cover these at 5%.
No → SBI Cashback. It gives 5% across all online purchases, with a ₹5,000 monthly cap, which is far more generous.
The full breakdown is in my SBI Cashback vs HDFC Millennia comparison. If you are genuinely deciding between these two, read that before applying for either.
Common Mistakes HDFC Millennia Credit Card Users Make
The 10 platforms cover actual urban Indian life. Not random brands are the apps on every young professional’s home screen. If your spending maps to this list, 5% feels effortless and automatic.
The first year is free. 1,000 welcome CashPoints = ₹1,000 = covers joining fee entirely.
1 CashPoint = ₹1. Always. No reward devaluation, no 0.25x nonsense. Clean.
HDFC reliability. Five years from now, HDFC Bank will still exist. Disputes get resolved. This matters for a card you hold long-term.
The ₹50 redemption fee is petty. There is no other word for it. HDFC earns plenty from interchange. Charging ₹50 to access money you earned feels deliberately punitive. Fix: never redeem less than 2,000 points at once.
Do not take this card abroad. 3.5% forex means a ₹1,00,000 international trip costs ₹4,130 extra. Carry Scapia Credit Card internationally with zero forex, free forever.
Points expire in 2 years. Set a reminder at 18 months from the anniversary. Do not let accumulated cashback disappear.
Lounge access is a marketing trick. HDFC promotes it. Most users will never qualify. Do not apply for this card expecting lounge benefits.
How To Apply HDFC Millennia Credit Card?
Age: 21-60 salaried, 21-65 self-employed. Income: ₹25,000+ net monthly (salaried), ₹6,00,000+ annual (self-employed). CIBIL: 750+ preferred.
HDFC’s approval is stricter than that of ICICI or SBI. Keep 3 months’ salary slips or the latest ITR ready.
Existing HDFC account holders get a near-instant digital card. New customers need Video KYC — same-day approval is common. Physical card in 5-7 days.
If you don’t have the original PAN card, physical KYC is also available by the bank
⚠️ You are losing money on every Swiggy and Amazon order without this card
How much are you losing per year?
At ₹10,000/month spend
on partner platforms
₹6,000
lost every year
Annual fee waiver actually achievable?
₹8,333 per month. Groceries, dining, online shopping, subscriptions on a card — most regular users hit this without trying.
1 CashPoint = ₹1?
For statement credit, yes, always. For SmartBuy flights, ₹0.30. Always redeem for statement credit.
Swiggy Instamart 5% applies?
Yes. All Swiggy transactions qualify. Pay directly through the Swiggy app, not PhonePe or Google Pay.
Cashback is not posting. Why?
Paid through wallet or third-party UPI instead of directly on the app. Always: card directly on app checkout. No middle layer.
HDFC Millennia Credit Card or SBI Cashback final answer?
Millennia wins on Zomato, Uber, BookMyShow, Cult.fit. SBI Cashback wins everywhere else online. Full comparison with exact numbers: SBI Cashback vs HDFC Millennia.
International use?
Avoid. 3.5% forex destroys returns. Use Scapia internationally, zero forex, free card.
Lounge access realistically?
₹1,00,000 quarterly = 1 visit per quarter. Under that — zero visits. Most users get zero. Best Lounge Access Cards guide here.
